🔑 From Bored to God’s Journalist

There was a time when my workday involved long periods of waiting in a parked Ford Ranger while the shop staff collected stock. What could have been wasted time became an unexpected appointment with God.

Instead of scrolling aimlessly or complaining about the delays, I began listening. It was during those quiet moments that the Holy Spirit impressed upon my heart a simple mission: write short devotions and encourage people.

The first readers weren’t strangers. They were the people living on the same property as me. Every morning I would send a message of hope, trusting that God would use even a few paragraphs to brighten someone’s day.

Before long, those devotions spread beyond the property. At markets, I would meet people, strike up conversations, and ask if they would like to receive daily encouragement. One phone number became ten. Ten became hundreds through WhatsApp broadcast lists, followed by channels, communities, and eventually this website.

Looking back, it amazes me that a ministry now reaching people around the world began with something as ordinary as waiting in a bakkie.

God often plants the greatest callings in the quietest moments. What looks like boredom to us may be the very place where He is preparing us for His purpose.
