🔑 A Gift That Became a Workshop.

There are gifts that make life a little easier.

There are gifts that solve an immediate problem.

And then there are gifts that become tools for building something much bigger than themselves.

Back in April, two generous Christians placed a Lenovo laptop into our hands.

They did not ask for recognition.

They did not ask for their names to be published.

They simply saw a need and decided to help.

Because of that, this article will respect their privacy.

But privacy does not mean silence.

We can still say thank you.

And today, we want to show them what happened to that gift.

🔑 From Juelz And Me, Thank You.

Juelz and I are genuinely grateful.

Not simply because we received a laptop.

We are grateful because somebody looked at what we were trying to accomplish and decided that we were worth investing in.

That means something.

A great deal, actually.

The computer arrived at a time when having a capable machine could make an enormous difference to the work we were doing.

Instead of allowing that generosity to become merely another possession, we put the machine to work.

And it has been working ever since.

🔑 What Happened To The Computer?

I kept the existing Windows 11 Pro installation.

Alongside it, I installed MX Linux 23.6, Libretto, giving the machine a proper dual-boot environment.

The Linux installation runs Xfce 4.20 on a 6.1-series Linux kernel, with an Intel Core i7-8550U processor, 12 GB of RAM, Intel UHD Graphics 620, and a 240 GB KingMAX SSD.

In other words, that Lenovo did not sit on a shelf.

It became a serious little workstation.

MX Linux gives me a lightweight, stable environment in which I can write, research, develop software, manage files, experiment with Linux, build PlebWare, and continue learning.

Windows remains available when I need it.

Linux gives me the freedom to build.

Two operating systems. One machine. A great deal of work.

🔑 What Has The Gift Made Possible?

This computer has become part of the machinery behind PlebWare.

It is being used for:

• Writing, articles, stories, and documentation.
• Research, study, and building a personal knowledge base.
• PlebMachine development and Linux experimentation.
• PlebVox development and accessibility work.
• Graphics, image preparation, and creative projects.
• Website development and GitHub work.
• Organising projects, documents, backups, and archives.
• Working with AI tools as part of the writing and development process.
• Learning new technologies and finding practical ways to make them useful.

Some of the things created on this machine will eventually be read by people I will never meet.

Some may help somebody solve a problem.

Some may simply make somebody smile.

And some may give somebody who has very little access to technology the encouragement to realise that they can create something too.

🔑 This Is Where PlebWare Gets Interesting.

PlebWare has never been about having the most expensive equipment.

Quite the opposite.

The whole philosophy is about asking:

“What can an ordinary person build with the tools they actually have?”

That Lenovo became another answer to that question.

It does not need to be the newest computer in the world.

It does not need the most expensive operating system.

It simply needs to be capable enough to help us turn ideas into reality.

That is precisely what it has done.

A donated computer became a Linux workstation.

The Linux workstation became part of a development environment.

The development environment became part of PlebWare.

And PlebWare continues becoming a place where knowledge, creativity, technology, faith, and ordinary everyday experience can meet.

🔑 PlebWare, And The Two PlebWares Behind It.

There is something else I want to make clear.

PlebWare is not just a website.

It is not just a collection of articles.

It is not just Linux projects, comics, stories, experiments, or software.

PlebWare is something Juelz and I are building together.

Two people.

Two different perspectives.

Two sets of experiences.

Two minds that sometimes agree, sometimes disagree, and occasionally drive each other completely crazy.

But together, we keep building.

That is why this gift belongs to more than one person.

It belongs to PlebWare.

And, in a very real sense, it belongs to the two PlebWares behind PlebWare.

The computer sits on a desk.

But what happens because of it reaches considerably further than that desk.

🔑 A Gift Can Keep Giving.

This is perhaps the most important part of our thank you.

The value of the gift did not end when the laptop changed hands.

It continues every time we switch it on.

Every article written.

Every line of code developed.

Every problem solved.

Every lesson learned.

Every graphic created.

Every idea explored.

Every person who eventually reads something published through PlebWare.

That is the wonderful thing about giving somebody a useful tool.

The original gift can keep producing new gifts.

Knowledge can be shared.

Skills can be passed on.

Ideas can multiply.

And something that began as an act of kindness can eventually touch people the giver will never know.

So, to the two people who made this possible:

Thank you for trusting us.

Thank you for your generosity.

Thank you for giving without demanding recognition.

Thank you for helping us continue when resources were limited.

And thank you for giving us something that has become far more than a computer.

You gave us another tool with which to build.

Juelz and I are grateful.

And the two PlebWares behind it are grateful.

Most importantly, we hope that whenever you wonder what happened to that Lenovo, you can smile knowing that it is not gathering dust.

It is being used.

🔑 May The Gift Continue To Bear Fruit.

As Christians, we believe that generosity is never truly wasted.

Sometimes we get to see the result.

Sometimes we never do.

But when somebody gives from a genuine heart, the act itself matters.

So our prayer is simple.

May God bless the people who gave this gift.

May He bless their household.

May He bless their work.

May He protect them.

And may He allow the kindness they showed us to continue travelling outward through everything that this machine helps us create.

We cannot repay generosity with money.

But we can honour it by putting it to good use.

And that is exactly what we intend to do.

This Lenovo is now part of the PlebWare story.

Not because it is particularly expensive.

Not because it is brand new.

But because someone cared enough to give it.

And because someone cared enough to use it.

That is the PlebWare way.

Take what you have.

Learn what you can.

Build what you can.

Share what you learn.
