Othello's First Post

Othello’s First Post.

Well, here we are.

After all these years of writing, experimenting, building websites, creating stories, working with technology, wrestling with ideas, and occasionally wondering what on earth I was doing next, I finally have a little corner of PlebWare specifically for Othello Cody Verrocchio.

For those who already know me, welcome back.

For those who don’t, allow me to introduce myself.

✍️ I Am Othello.

Othello Cody Verrocchio is my primary writing name.

Under this name, I write fiction, science fiction, poetry, creative reflections, and the stories that have been growing inside my head for far longer than I care to admit.

Some of those stories belong to the Divine Origins universe — a long-form science-fiction journey involving distant worlds, humanity, faith, conflict, discovery, and the eternal question of what happens when technology becomes powerful enough to change the course of civilisation.

But Othello is not simply about science fiction.

Writing, for me, has always been about exploring ideas.

Sometimes those ideas come through a spaceship.

Sometimes through a character.

Sometimes through a piece of technology.

Sometimes through a Bible verse.

And sometimes through something as ordinary as sitting at a computer late at night and asking:

“What if?”

🖋️ One Person, Many Hats.

You may encounter several names associated with my work.

That can be confusing at first.

Othello Cody Verrocchio is my primary author identity.

God’s Journalist — Dei Scriptor — is the name I use for my Christian writing and devotional work.

Otto Brinkmeier is my real-world identity and the name associated with much of my technical work, including PlebMachine and the wider PlebWare philosophy.

There are other names and characters that occasionally appear too.

They are not separate people.

They are different creative hats worn by the same person.

And perhaps that is what writing really is.

We all contain more than one story.

🌌 Why Am I Here?

PlebWare has become much more than a technical project.

It has become a place where technology, writing, research, creativity, faith, and ordinary human life can exist alongside one another.

That makes it a rather appropriate place for Othello to have a home.

Here, I can write about the things that don’t necessarily fit neatly into a technical article.

I can talk about stories.

Characters.

Worlds.

Books.

The strange ideas that appear at three o’clock in the morning.

The lessons learned from writing badly before learning how to write a little better.

And perhaps even the occasional spectacular failure.

Because writers don’t simply create finished stories.

We create drafts.

We make mistakes.

We throw things away.

We start again.

And somewhere along the way, a story begins to breathe.

🔥 Stories With Something to Say.

I have never been particularly interested in writing simply to fill pages.

I want my stories to have something underneath them.

A question.

A challenge.

A mystery.

A little bit of truth.

Perhaps even something that makes the reader put the book down for a moment and think:

“Wait… what if that were actually possible?”

Science fiction gives us an extraordinary playground for doing that.

We can travel beyond Earth.

We can explore technologies that don’t yet exist.

We can imagine civilisations separated by thousands of light-years.

But ultimately, the stories remain about people.

Their choices.

Their failures.

Their courage.

Their fears.

Their faith.

Their relationships.

And their struggle to understand what it means to be human.

🤖 And Then Came AI.

My writing journey has now entered another strange chapter.

Artificial intelligence has become part of my creative toolkit.

I use AI to help organise ideas, examine possibilities, improve clarity, research subjects, and sometimes simply to have another voice challenge an idea that has been bouncing around my head.

But there is an important distinction.

The machine can assist the writer. It does not become the writer.

The ideas, experiences, characters, stories, convictions, and creative direction remain mine.

AI can help me sharpen the sword.

It doesn’t decide where I swing it.

That distinction matters to me because authenticity matters.

A story should have a human heartbeat.

📚 So What Comes Next?

This is only the first post.

There will be more.

Some will be about writing.

Some will be about science fiction.

Some will explore the worlds and characters that have occupied my imagination for years.

Some may look behind the scenes at the process of creating a book.

And, inevitably, there will probably be a few posts where I wander completely off the planned path because another idea has grabbed me by the collar.

That’s part of being a writer.

The important thing is that the journey continues.

So welcome to Othello’s corner of PlebWare.

Pull up a chair.

Open a book.

Ask a question.

Explore a strange world.

And if you find something here that makes you think, wonder, laugh, or perhaps see the world slightly differently…

then the words have done their job.

The first page is now open.

Let’s see where the story takes us.
