A chronological history of the projects, technical problems, creative work, experiments, and publishing projects we’ve worked on together.
📌 Note: This is based on the conversation history currently available to me. It isn’t a complete export of every chat in your account, so there may be older or one-off conversations that aren’t represented here.
📅 2023 — Creative Beginnings.
🎨 October 2023 — Auntie Sharon & the Darkness
One of the earliest projects I can remember was a humorous poem about:
💅 Auntie Sharon doing her nails in the dark
The situation revolved around:
- ⚡ Loadshedding
- 🕯️ Darkness and candles
- 💅 Sharon attempting to do her nails anyway
- 😂 Turning an everyday South African inconvenience into something ridiculous
This established one of the recurring themes in my creative work with ChatGPT:
Take an ordinary situation → exaggerate it → make it funny.
📅 2024 — Personalised Creative Writing
🎂 December 2024 — Brian Maine Birthday Poem
I asked ChatGPT for a belated birthday poem for Brian Maine.
Brian was described to GPT as:
- 👨🍳 A chef
- 🍽️ Someone involved in the food industry
- 🤝 A friend
The goal was to create something personal and humorous rather than a generic birthday message.
To Brian, the Chef Extraordinaire
A belated cheer for your special day,
Dear Brian Maine, in a chef's array!
With pots that simmer, and flavors that soar,
You make the world richer—who could ask for more?
Though the candles have flickered, the cake’s been cut,
This birthday wish is no if, and, or but!
For a maestro of meals and culinary art,
You season with passion, straight from the heart.
From sauces that sing to dishes that dance,
Every plate’s a story, a savory romance.
Your craft feeds the soul; your kindness feeds more,

This continued the pattern of using ChatGPT as a creative writing partner for people we know personally.
📅 2025 — Linux, Gaming & Technical Troubleshooting
🐧 January 2025 — SparkyLinux 12
A major technical project began in January 2025.
The overall objective was to get my Linux system configured properly and eventually run Raid: Shadow Legends.
My then setup included:
- 🐧 SparkyLinux 12
- 🖥️ KDE Plasma
- 🎮 Raid: Shadow Legends
I was also interested in installing the full KDE Plasma environment.
🖥️ January 2025 — KDE Plasma
I worked with ChatGPT on configuring/installing the full KDE Plasma environment on SparkyLinux.
The KDE version I was using at the time was:
KDE Plasma 5.103.0
This became part of the foundation for attempting a gaming setup, on Linux.

The next stage was getting Wine working.

I wanted to use PlayOnLinux to manage the Windows software environment, for Raid Shadow Legends.
🏁 Where We Are Now
The latest project, 🦯 The Cane Otto Chose, brings together several recurring elements of our work:
- 🧑 Otto as a recurring character
- 😂 My own particular sense of humour
- 🗣️ My conversational writing style
- ✍️ AI-assisted writing
- 🔄 Multiple refinement passes
- 🐙 GitHub
- 🚀 Actual publication
In that sense, it is a good snapshot of how our work together has evolved.

Over the period I can currently reconstruct, we’ve effectively used ChatGPT as:

- ✍️ Writing partner

- 🤖 AI assistant
- 🌐 Publishing assistant
And the projects have gradually moved from individual questions and pieces of writing toward complete workflows where an idea gets created, refined, and ultimately published or used.
That is probably the clearest description of the evolution of our work together from 2023 through September 2026.
