The Technology Diploma Shelf โ€” Courses Worth Bookmarking

๐ŸŽ“ Technology Diploma Shelf โ€” Courses Worth Bookmarking

๐Ÿ“š A Shelf for Later

One of the useful things about learning online is that we donโ€™t have to learn everything at once.

Sometimes the sensible thing to do is simply find a good course, bookmark it, and know where it is when weโ€™re ready for it.

That is what this page is about.

PlebWare is building a growing technology learning path, and there are more courses available than any one person could realistically complete at the same time.

So instead of saying:

โ€œYou must do this course now.โ€

we are building a Technology Diploma Shelf.

These are courses worth knowing about and potentially adding to your future learning list.

๐Ÿค– Diploma in Fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence

Level: Advanced
Approximate duration: 10โ€“15 hours

Diploma in Fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence โ€” Alison

This is a useful course for somebody who wants to move beyond simply using artificial intelligence and start understanding some of the underlying ideas.

The course covers subjects including:

It is particularly interesting as a possible next step after introductory AI study.

โœจ Diploma in Applied Generative AI

Level: Advanced
Approximate duration: 10โ€“15 hours

Diploma in Applied Generative AI โ€” Alison

This course approaches Generative AI from an applied and organisational perspective.

Topics include:

For people already experimenting with ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, DeepSeek, Meta AI and other systems, this provides another possible route into understanding how AI can be applied beyond simple conversation.

๐Ÿง  Diploma in Machine Learning with Python

Level: Advanced
Approximate duration: 10โ€“15 hours

Diploma in Machine Learning with Python โ€” Alison

This is where the learning becomes considerably more technical.

The course covers areas including:

Python is used as the foundation.

This is not necessarily the first technology course somebody should tackle, but it is an interesting destination for somebody who wants to understand what happens underneath modern AI systems.

๐Ÿ Diploma in Python Programming

Level: Beginner
Approximate duration: 10โ€“15 hours

Diploma in Python Programming โ€” Alison

Python is one of the most useful programming languages to have in an AI and technology learning toolbox.

This course introduces programming concepts including:

For somebody who has never really programmed before, this may be a more approachable starting point than jumping directly into machine learning.

๐Ÿ“Š Diploma in Using Python for Data Science

Level: Advanced
Approximate duration: 6โ€“10 hours

Diploma in Using Python for Data Science โ€” Alison

This course takes Python into the world of data science.

It introduces subjects such as:

For someone interested in the relationship between Python, data and AI, this is an interesting course to keep on the shelf.

๐Ÿงญ So Where Should You Start?

There is no requirement to tackle all of these courses.

In fact, trying to do everything simultaneously is probably a good way to turn learning into another job.

A sensible technology learning path could look something like this:

Level 1 โ€” Understand AI

Start with an introductory AI course and learn the basic vocabulary.

Level 2 โ€” Understand Programming

Learn Python fundamentals and basic programming concepts.

Level 3 โ€” Understand Applied AI

Explore Generative AI and how AI is being used in practical situations.

Level 4 โ€” Understand Data

Learn how Python can be used with data.

Level 5 โ€” Understand Machine Learning

Move into machine learning concepts and algorithms.

Level 6 โ€” Go Deeper

Explore more specialised subjects such as neural networks, TensorFlow, APIs, local AI and AI application development.

The important thing is that the learner controls the pace.

๐Ÿ“Œ Bookmark First. Study Later.

There is another important lesson here.

A bookmark is not a commitment.

You donโ€™t have to enrol in six courses because you found six interesting courses.

You donโ€™t have to finish a course because you started it.

And you donโ€™t have to become a programmer simply because you are interested in artificial intelligence.

Learning works better when curiosity leads the way.

The PlebWare approach is simple:

Find it. Bookmark it. Learn it when youโ€™re ready.

โš ๏ธ A Word About the Word โ€œDiplomaโ€

There is an important distinction to make.

The courses listed here are online diploma courses offered by Alison.

That does not automatically make them equivalent to a South African university qualification, TVET qualification or an NQF-registered diploma.

The purpose of this PlebWare list is to identify accessible learning opportunities, not to claim that an online course carries the same status as a formal tertiary qualification.

Always check the recognition requirements that apply to your particular career, employer or profession.

๐Ÿง‘โ€๐Ÿ’ป PlebWare Technology Learning

This article is only the beginning of the Technology section.

As the PlebWare Study library grows, this section can become a practical technology learning shelf containing:

The goal isnโ€™t to turn everyone into a computer scientist.

The goal is to make technology understandable enough for ordinary people to use, explore and eventually build with it.

๐ŸŽ“ The PlebWare Principle

Technology learning doesnโ€™t have to begin with a university laboratory.

Sometimes it begins with an old computer, a free course, a Linux installation, a Python script, a question asked to an AI โ€” or simply a bookmark saying:

โ€œIโ€™m going to learn this one day.โ€

That is perfectly valid.

The important thing is to keep learning.

Learn it. Understand it. Use it. Improve it. Make it your own.

Course availability, duration and content can change. Check the course providerโ€™s current listing before beginning a course.
