Celebrities in Fordsburg.

When Waiting Turns Into Wall Art. 🎨

Sometimes, when you’re sitting around waiting in Fordsburg, you have two choices.

You can stare at the road…

Or you can start imagining that you’ve become a local celebrity mural.

Naturally, I chose the second option.

Celebrities in Fordsburg — A humorous six-panel comic about Otto waiting for his boss and imagining himself as a mural on a Fordsburg wall.

Meanwhile, Back at the Mosque. 🕌

I sent my boss a message.

“I’m done.”

A short message.

A clear message.

A message containing absolutely no poetry whatsoever.

Then came the reply.

Not a reply, exactly.

A photograph.

My boss had apparently sent me a picture of the gentlemen praying at the mosque.

And suddenly I realised…

I was waiting for a response from a man who had apparently outsourced his response to the Almighty.

The Mural Takes Shape. 🎨

So there I was, sitting in Fordsburg, waiting.

And waiting.

And waiting.

At some point my imagination took over.

I looked at the wall beside me and thought:

“You know what this place needs?”

A mural.

A magnificent mural.

A heroic mural.

A mural of Otto Brinkmeier, Patron Saint of Waiting for the Boss.

There I stood in my imagination, painted ten feet tall, looking dramatically into the distance like I had important places to be.

Which, technically, I did.

Fordsburg Has Its Celebrities. ⭐

Some people get statues.

Some get plaques.

Some get their names on buildings.

Me?

Apparently I’m getting painted on a wall while sitting around wondering whether today’s mission is actually going to happen.

“Otto Brinkmeier.”

Fordsburg’s newest landmark.

“He came. He waited. He texted. He became a mural.”

History may never explain why.

No Offence Intended. Just Life. 😄

The funny part isn’t the mosque.

The funny part is the situation.

People pray.

People work.

People wait.

People send mysterious photographs instead of answering messages.

And occasionally, an exhausted driver sitting in Fordsburg turns himself into a fictional celebrity mural because his imagination has officially run out of sensible things to do.

That’s life.

And sometimes you’ve just got to laugh at it.

The Final Verdict. 😂

I may not have received the answer I was expecting.

But I got something better.

A comic.

A mural.

A story.

And six panels of evidence that when life gives you a confusing message…

turn yourself into public art.

Tomorrow, who knows?

Perhaps I’ll be painted on another wall.

At this rate, Fordsburg is going to need a museum.

A Little Smile for Everyone. ❤️

To the Muslim gentleman having a difficult day.

To the Christian brother wondering what on earth is going on.

To the Bangladeshi worker waiting for his next job.

To the taxi driver waiting for a passenger.

To the boss waiting for the right moment to answer.

And to anybody sitting somewhere thinking,

“What am I even doing here?”

You’re not alone.

Sometimes the best thing you can do is laugh.

And if that doesn’t work…

Paint yourself on the wall. 😄
