  1. Cut slices of bread about 1cm (10mm) thick (unless using pre-sliced bread).
  2. Cut the bread into fingers about the same width as the thickness.
  3. Turn the fingers and cut them into cubes.
  4. Heat frying fat or cooking oil in a pan.
  5. When a slight haze rises from the oil, carefully add the bread cubes a few at a time.
  6. Fry until golden brown β€” they should brown in about 2 minutes.
  7. Drain on kitchen paper (paper towel).
  8. Keep hot until ready to use.
